Marcia Brody is very happy to be able to offer an exciting
pilot program this summer. An introductory foxhunting camp to
be held in Middletown, Maryland. Target participants include
kids who are interested in foxchasing and are already able to
walk, trot and canter independently. Riders should have suitable
mounts, although limited horses may be available for more advanced
riders.
This camp will focus on: Basics of Cross-Country Riding
for Hunting (including jumping for those who are ready); Introduction
to Foxhounds and What They Do; Basic Principles of Hunting Etiquette;
and Riding to Hounds.
Activities will include a cross-country schooling session,
hound walking on foot and on horseback, and participation in
an actual informal hunt. We plan on full days of activities on
Wednesday and Thursday, including evenings (hound-walking and
barbeque at NM-MVH kennels on Wednesday, and mounted hound walking
on Thursday evening).
Stabling and optional housing will be available for the
duration of the camp. Although Marcia is sponsoring and conducting
this camp privately, the camp will be benefiting from the participation
and guidance of Huntsman George Harne, New Market-Middletown
Valley Hounds. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated
to the New Market-Middletown Valley Hounds. This group will be
kept small, and the program will be tailored to the individual
participants, so please contact Marcia early if you are interested.
Slots are limited.
